In Stockholm, my friend and I absolutely had to visit the famous Vasa Museum. After learning about the story of the Vasa ship, I knew I needed to see the ship for myself and I have to say I was very pleased with my experience at the museum. As soon as I stepped inside the doors of the building, I could immediately smell the aged wood smell from the boat. I was so fascinated by the fact that I could still smell the water on the boat, which had been sitting in the harbour of the city for 333 years before they finally decided to pull it out again.
Along with having the entire ship still constructed in its full beauty and all original materials, there were also some bodies that were extracted from the ship which were also examined and rebuilt to be displayed in the museum. Although it is hard to say whos bones are whos and exactly who the bodies belong to in the first place. Since there were quite a few people on board, it is nearly impossible to tell, except for the captain, who was found in the captains quarters.
